- ISHDO Second Chance Class Project
The Second Chance Class is an accelerated learning pedagogy – as well as supplemental programs in the community – to enable older children who have been kept out of school to get a second chance at an education.

General Objective
- Boys and girls who are out of school in project implementing woredas transfer to and complete the first cycle primary education program.
Strategies Used to Implement the Project
Accelerated Learning Curriculum: it covers the first three years of schooling in just 10 months & prepares students to succeed in their local schools.

Community Mobilization : Parents and local leaders help us identify out-of-school children and find classrooms. We support mothers of our students to keep their children in school.
Capacity Building: We train local government school teachers in the Second Chance activity-based pedagogy both to support our students and improve the quality of education

Yearly Target
· Bring 625 children back to school (between the ages of 9-14 years) and enable them to enroll into their local primary schools after they have completed their 10-month lessons.
Empower 625 mothers of the target children economically and socially by organizing them in SHGs (Self-help groups) and help them develop a consistent household income.
Grow the capacity of primary schools in 10 Woredas by creating 200 ALPS Classes and enrolling 7000 school aged children to enable them to join the first cycle of primary education.
Train 200 ALP class teachers to support the program’s development.
