SPELL Teacher Training Completed in Sidama Region

The Structured Pedagogy to Enhance Learning for Life (SPELL) Teacher Training has been successfully completed in the Sidama Region, strengthening teachers’ knowledge and skills to support children’s early learning.

The training brought together 30 government school teachers from three woredas and 10 schools selected by the Luminos Fund (LF) for research purposes.

The opening session featured key messages and guidance from Ato Tafesse G/Mariam, Deputy Head of the Sidama Regional Education Bureau, and Miss Aster Kebede, Director of the CIP Directorate at the Regional Education Bureau.

The training used a participatory and learner-centered approach, giving teachers opportunities to practice, collaborate, exchange experiences, and reflect on effective classroom practices.

The training focused on strengthening teachers’ capacity to help children develop strong and effective reading skills from the early years of their education, contributing to improved foundational learning.

The successful completion of the training reflects the commitment of the participating teachers and education stakeholders to strengthening teaching practices and improving learning outcomes for children.
